Pod 5 Spotlight: Unlocking surround-sound with the new Base

With the launch of Pod 4, we introduced a new Base into the Eight Sleep system. While the older Base generation introduced new features like elevation control and snore mitigation, the new Pod 5 Base model is equipped with a built-in speaker, allowing users to control the sound in their environment in addition to temperature and elevation.

Sleep, heard differently

As we began iterating on a new version of the Base, we wanted to explore how we could tackle another common sleep issue – noise. Environmental noise is a common barrier to quality sleep. Whether it’s a snoring partner, street noise, or a racing mind, sound can make or break your rest. That’s why the new speaker is built directly into the Base, delivering high-quality audio scientifically designed to calm the body, mask disruptions, and guide you into deep sleep.

A fully phone-free experience

Forget the late-night scroll. With Pod 5, your sleep routine doesn’t rely on your screen. You can play, pause, and control audio right from the new tap-to-control buttons on the Pod 5 Cover—without opening the app or touching your phone.

Map a button to your favorite soundscape, and your Pod will handle the rest. Your audio can begin at bedtime, fade out after sleep onset, or play through the night based on your preferences. Wake-up sounds can also be paired with the Pod’s vibration and thermal cues, so your entire morning routine starts seamlessly, without a screen.

What you’ll hear

Your Pod 5 includes access to a growing library of content, developed exclusively for Eight Sleep members:

  • NSDR by Dr. Andrew Huberman: Science-backed protocols to support brain and body recovery through Non-Sleep Deep Rest.
  • Soundscapes: Designed to lower your heart rate, mask ambient noise, and support deeper sleep cycles.
  • Wake-up audio: Optional sound alarms that work in tandem with your Pod’s vibration and temperature for a multi-sensory, non-jarring start to your day.

Purpose-built, not multi-purpose

The speaker in the Base isn’t just another connected device. It’s engineered for one thing: better sleep. That’s why it plays only content from the Eight Sleep app. No Bluetooth. No pairing. Just effortless access to the audio your body needs to recover.

Because the Pod isn’t a speaker system—it’s a sleep system.
