As full-time fitness professionals, Sam and Jenna know how critical recovery is. They coach clients all day, train hard, and wake up early. But for years, their sleep didn’t reflect that discipline.
“We were overheating every night. Tossing the blanket on and off. Constant night sweats,” Jenna said.
“And I learned I was snoring, which wasn’t helping either,” Sam added.
They live above a boiler room in a New York apartment, and even with windows open, the heat was relentless. That all changed when they got the Pod.
Smarter cooling, customized to each of them
At first, they cranked the Pod to the lowest possible setting to offset the heat.
“We’d make it so cold you’d need a sweatsuit just to get in bed,” Sam joked.
But over time, they personalized the settings for comfort and performance. Jenna sleeps with a consistent cool-down schedule, starting at -9 and tapering up slightly before wake time. Sam takes a more dynamic approach, using Autopilot to adapt to his body’s needs.
“I start a little warmer, cool down in the middle of the night, and finish with a warm bed again. It helps me stay asleep and wake up ready.”
A better sleep routine, even after late nights
They quickly noticed how the Pod helped them bounce back faster after social nights, late workouts, or a drink or two.
“If I drink red wine, I usually sleep terribly. But with the Pod’s Autopilot adjusting to my body temp, it helps a ton,” said Sam.
Jenna agreed, especially as someone prone to night sweats.
“Alcohol makes it worse. Having something that actively cools me down has been a lifesaver.”
Competitive sleep tracking, without the wearables
As coaches, they’ve always tracked their performance. But sleep tracking was harder to manage, especially with the discomfort of wrist devices.
“I used to wear a tracker to bed every night, but it gave me wrist pain. Now I don’t need anything — the Pod tracks everything I want, right from the bed,” said Jenna.
They’ve even turned their recovery into a friendly rivalry.
“We compete on sleep scores. If Jenna sleeps an hour longer, she gets the edge. If I go to bed earlier, I win. It’s fun, and we both actually look forward to checking the numbers,” Sam said.
The impact: energy, clarity, and control
With early mornings and long days, quality sleep isn’t just a nice-to-have. It’s essential to their work, mindset, and creativity.
“Even if you get 8 or 9 hours, if the quality isn’t there, it doesn’t matter. You’ll feel foggy. You won’t perform,” Sam explained.
“We can fall asleep right away now, and wake up refreshed. It’s a game changer,” Jenna added.
“We already knew sleep was everything. The Pod just makes it possible to actually get the sleep we need.”
Whether it’s for a long run, a packed day of clients, or a night out, Sam and Jenna now have a system that works with them, not against them.
