“As someone who played college basketball, Eight Sleep reminds me of being on a high-performing team – everyone brings their best, pushes each other, and works toward a shared goal.”
Abby’s journey at Eight Sleep
When did you join Eight Sleep? What was your role when you joined, and how has it evolved over time?
I joined Eight Sleep in October 2023 as a Lifecycle Marketing Manager. I was the first hire on the lifecycle team. At the time, I was focused on driving new customer sales through email and SMS, and managing all lifecycle communications on my own. I was given the opportunity to grow quickly, and with the support of an incredible leadership, I’ve since built out a small (but mighty!) team of five.
Now, after less than two years, I am the Director of Lifecycle Marketing and lead the full lifecycle function across onboarding, retention, and reactivation.
What were you doing before, and what made you want to join Eight Sleep?
Before Eight Sleep, I was working in loyalty marketing at a large footwear brand. A friend who worked at Eight Sleep was always raving about the culture, the team, and how much she loved her job. When I saw a role open up on the lifecycle marketing team, I jumped at the opportunity – and I’m so glad I did.
What’s one project or moment at Eight Sleep that you’re especially proud of?
I’m especially proud of the Pod 4 and Pod 5 launches. Being part of two major product rollouts and seeing how our lifecycle strategy directly drove engagement and sales was incredibly rewarding.
Working at Eight Sleep
How would you describe the team culture at Eight Sleep in a few words?
Fast-paced, ambitious, and deeply collaborative. Eight Sleep is the kind of place that pushes you to grow beyond what you thought you were capable of. As someone who played college basketball, it reminds me of being on a high-performing team – everyone brings their best, pushes each other, and works toward a shared goal. When you take a step back and see everything you’ve accomplished and learned, there’s a real sense of pride.
What’s something small – but meaningful – that makes working here different from other places?
Everyone’s ideas are genuinely heard, no matter your title or function. Whether you’re an intern or a team lead, you’re encouraged to speak up, bring ideas to the table, and challenge the status quo. What really sets Eight Sleep apart is the deep sense of ownership — people are trusted to run with big initiatives, make decisions, and learn by doing. That trust creates a culture where collaboration feels natural, and where people are genuinely motivated to do their best work because they know it matters.
What’s your favorite non-work related memory with your colleagues?
Every offsite, we make time for a fun team activity — and one of my favorites was learning to play Padel together at Padel Haus in NYC.
How do you feel supported to grow professionally and personally?
I’ve been encouraged to take risks, lead big initiatives, and grow into new responsibilities. There’s a real investment in career development, and I’ve felt empowered to shape the lifecycle function from the ground up.
Just for fun
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love working out and trying new fitness classes! I’m currently getting certified in Pilates and will soon start teaching at a local studio – something I’m really excited about.
What’s your go-to Pod temperature settings?
I start at +5 to crawl into a warm, cozy bed, then cool down to -2 once I’m asleep. I finish with a +7 warm wake-up, which is the best way to start the day.
